Volunteer
The involvement and commitment of volunteers is vital to the support we are able to offer to those using our services. They contribute enormously to our work and enable us to reach out and support many more people. Our volunteers come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, contributing varied work and life experiences.
Volunteers don’t require formal qualifications but do need to have some important qualities. They need to be:
- good listeners
- Interested in people
- open and non-judgemental
- committed to rights and equality
- respectful towards the views of others
- good listeners
- calm and patient
Volunteers receive free initial and on-going training with the option of achieving qualifications through the Open College Network. We support our volunteers through reviews, meetings, social events and newsletters.
We have a range of opportunities for volunteers, such as being a mentor or an advocate, or helping with fundraising and general administration.
Along with 1 to 1 work we also have volunteer opportunities at our local Cafe supporting vulnerable adults who are on placement.
